Why Video Storytelling?
The JC Engage Digital Program aims to empower Hong Kong NGOs with essential resources and skills to engage with your audience effectively and amplify your social impact.
Through our program, we will help you translate your organization’s key strategic objectives into a marketing message that you can readily deliver to your audience. We strongly believe that NGOs can harness the power of video storytelling to cut through the crowded media environment, to get your voices heard and bring in the support you need to further advance your cause. The course also offers practical video making tips to help NGOs get started.

In this Video Storytelling series you will:
- Realize the importance of Storytelling in the digital world
- Understand the components of a successful communication strategy
- Learn how to plan and tell an effective and powerful story
- Produce an impactful short video and distribute it
- Get help from skill-based professionals to bounce ideas and obtain new perspectives
- Get a chance to win a professional video production service worth HK$60,000 on your NGO’s story
Eligibility:
A tax-exempt entity under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance of Hong Kong
NGO main beneficiaries being Hong Kong permanent residents
Priority will be given to the NGOs who are able to form a team of 3 members, and commit to all activities.

- Help NGOs identify their unique selling point
- Help NGOs amplify their social impact via video storytelling
- Help NGOs win a HK$60,000 professional production prize
- Share your insight and creativity with like-minded professionals who are passionate about social causes
Eligibility:
3+ years of work experience
Interested in serving NGOs in Hong Kong with your skills
Priority will be given to volunteers with marketing and communication background

Preparation
To get ready for the contest, your NGO team will be equipped through the follwing steps:
Complete E-Learning modules and submit pre-workshop assignment

Attend workshop
Submit a quick-win video and a project brief
The Contest
A pitch within 3 minutes about your project followed by a 2 minutes Q&A from the judging panel
Rewards
HK$ 60,000 worth of prefessional video production service
Tips for you
The pitch needs to demonstrate a good understanding and application of the workshop contents.
The pitch needs to convince the judges that you can make good use of a professional production service to achieve your communication objectives.

There is a strong and predominantly negative social stigma surrounding a Migrant Domestic Worker (MDW) pregnancy in HK. It can only be reduced with an empathetic movement, with members of the public, employers, and even MDWs that recognize MDWs are just like many working women in HK. Besides being employees, they are mothers too.

Hong Kong Society for the Blind (HKSB) was established in 1956. It provides a wide range of services for persons with multiple disabilities and visual impairment (MDVI), and residential care for the aged blind. HKSB has started their journey with ACS since last year at the Mind Matters event – a Hackathon for Social Impact. In May, HKSB participated in HKJC ENGAGE – Video Storytelling Series and went through a series of training. With their hard work, they were recognized as one of the winners for the video production service.

Video Description
There are more than four hundred and fifty thousand elderlies with vision impairment in Hong Kong who are much more likely to suffer from mood disorders according to studies. Amid the pandemic, the social-distancing measures prevented the visually-impaired elderlies from going out or participating in social activities, leading to the deterioration of their mental health. To actively respond to the mental health needs of the visually impaired elderly who live in nursing homes during the period, The Hong Kong Society for the Blind (HKSB) implemented a mental health project, Mindful Music last year. Building upon the positive feedback of this initiative, HKSB is looking to promote the Mindful Music project in the community of caregivers for the visually impaired elderly, encouraging them to use music to improve the mental health.

The Agency for Volunteer Service was founded in 1970 to promote sustainable volunteerism for building a caring community. The organization forms partnerships with all sectors of the community to provide value-added and quality volunteer service. While the organization mainly serves as a hub to connect those who wish to volunteer with organizations requiring the services of volunteers, it also offers other services such as training courses and professional consultancy on volunteering, otherwise known as “Hong Kong Institute of Volunteers” as well as a resource platform, “Volunteer Link”, with publications and reference materials produced for good practices of volunteer service management. The shelter provides medical support and training to the animals. In addition, the shelter helps the animals find new pet owners and educates the public about having love for animals and saving pets’ lives.
